The word talmīh is used in most literature genres, especially poetry or prose, to present a point or attribute with beauty or intensity. It is a kind of hint through which poets or writers want to convey a broader concept or a contextual background. This is how poets and writers usually resort to talmīhāt. While Allāma Iqbal provided quite a unique direction to the literature by his intellectual ideas, he also included the use of talmīhāt in his genre of poetry. In this manner, he also provided new beauty, creativity, dimensions, and horizons to the word Koh-Tūr (Mount Sinai) used as a talmīh in his creativity. Basically, the whole life of Hazrat Mūsa (Prophet Moses) has been a guide for Allāma Iqbal. Allāma Iqbal presents it as a metaphor for hope, trials, and challenges. Allāma Iqbāl observes the life of Hazrat Mūsa (Prophet Moses) as being mostly dynamic, active and meaningful which in the present age serves as a beautiful message for the Muslim Ummah (Muslim Community). This article is an attempt to present and discuss the same thought while exploring the use of talmīhāt. Besides this, the above-mentioned talmīhāt have been creatively utilized by Allāma Iqbal in his Urdu and Persian poetry collections and have been referred to by the author of this article.
