Author Guidelines

Authors are invited to make a submission to this journal. All submissions will be assessed by an editor to determine whether they meet the aims and scope of this journal. Those considered to be a good fit will be sent for peer review before determining whether they will be accepted or rejected.

Before making a submission, authors are responsible for obtaining permission to publish any material included with the submission, such as photos, documents and datasets. All authors identified on the submission must consent to be identified as an author. Where appropriate, research should be approved by an appropriate ethics committee in accordance with the legal requirements of the study's country.

An editor may desk reject a submission if it does not meet minimum standards of quality. Before submitting, please ensure that the study design and research argument are structured and articulated properly. The title should be concise and the abstract should be able to stand on its own. This will increase the likelihood of reviewers agreeing to review the paper. When you're satisfied that your submission meets this standard, please follow the guidelines below to prepare your submission.

Guidelines for Authors

The research articles will be reviewed by two anonymous peer reviewers in addition to the initial review by the editorial board.

It is important that the submitting author(s) comply with the ethics laid down by the APA in its latest publication manual. As per HEC policy, the paper will be published subject to its clearance for plagiarism.

Preparation of Manuscript: Articles written only in Urdu and English languages are accepted for publication. Research papers should be up to 4000-8000 words (English) and 15-20 pages (Urdu) including visuals (black and white) following the Journal’s format guidelines. Contributions exceeding 8000 words (English) and 20 pages (Urdu) please be discussed with the editor, prior to the submission for special consideration owing to the work reported.

Sending the Manuscript to BRJIS: Electronic submission is preferred. Submission of work to اقبال پیام Bahria Research Journal on Iqbal Studies is taken to imply that the same manuscript is not under consideration by another journal. If the submitted manuscript forms part of a book currently in press, advise the editors at the time of submitting: details of the book's publisher; its projected publication date; and the precise relationship between the material in the submitted manuscript and in the book.

Publication Policy

BRJIS has a double-blind peer reviewing policy. Initial screening for the suitability of the article for publication in BRJIS is carried out by the editorial board and subsequently, the manuscript is sent for blind reviewing. Each article is reviewed by two reviewers. Authors are informed about the comments or suggestions of the reviewers and are required to revise their paper in the stipulated time period.

Copyright Policy

  1. Copyright Ownership and License Agreement

Upon acceptance of a manuscript for publication, the author(s) agree to transfer the copyright of the published article to the journal. The journal holds exclusive rights to publish and distribute the article, including in digital and print formats. In return, the journal grants the author(s) the following rights:

  • The right to share the article in academic settings, such as conference presentations and classroom teaching.
  • The right to include the article in a thesis or dissertation.
  • The right to reproduce the article for personal use or institutional repository (with acknowledgment of the original publication).
  1. Author Warranties

The author(s) must ensure that:

  • The submitted work is original and has not been published elsewhere.
  • The manuscript does not infringe any existing copyright or other intellectual property rights.
  • Any material reproduced from other sources (such as figures or tables) is properly credited, and written permission has been obtained where necessary.
  1. Copyright Violations

Any copyright infringement or violations related to the submitted manuscript are the sole responsibility of the author(s). The journal reserves the right to withdraw published articles in case of confirmed violations of copyright.

Ethics for Authors

  1. Authorship Contribution

All authors must have made significant contributions to the research, including design, data analysis, or manuscript preparation. Each author shares responsibility for the manuscript's content.

  1. Unethical Practices
  • Gift Authorship: Listing individuals who made no contribution.
  • Ghost Authorship: Omitting those who contributed significantly.
  • Plagiarism: Presenting others' work without proper citation.
  • Self-Plagiarism: Using one’s own work redundantly without citation.
  • Data Fabrication/Falsification: Providing false or misleading data. BRJIS reserves the right to request raw data.
  1. Conflict of Interest

Authors must disclose any potential conflicts of interest, including financial, commercial, or professional relationships that may bias the research. Authors can disclose their conflict of interest by writing to the BRJIS editor at BRJIS@bahria.edu.pk

  1. Misconduct Allegations

Authors are required to read the journal’s author instructions and ethical policies carefully and to adhere to the terms before submission. BRJIS follows a structured process for addressing allegations:

  • Complaints are investigated, and the corresponding author(s) are contacted.
  • If misconduct is confirmed, corrective actions (e.g., retraction) may be taken.

BRJIS deals with complaints and appeals in accordance with the recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE): https://publicationethics.org/appeals.  Authors can request reconsideration of rejected manuscripts by contacting the Editorial Office, explaining their reasons for reconsideration.

Guidelines for English Articles

The manuscript should be error free. It should be up to 4000-8000 words. Contributions exceeding 8000 words (English) and 20 pages (Urdu) please be discussed with the editor, prior to the submission for special consideration owing to the work reported. All submissions must have a title, be left aligned with font size 12, font type Times New Roman, and be double spaced with a margin of 3 cm all round.

BRJIS invites research focussing on the practical applicability of Iqbal’s wisdom and teachings. 

Abstract: The abstract should range between 150 – 250 words for all articles. An abstract is a concise summary of the whole paper, not just the conclusions. It should state the purpose of the study, hypothesis/research questions, method, analysis, main findings and conclusions. Abstract to be followed by 4 to 7 keywords. 

Manuscript: The manuscript should have elaborate introduction, clearly stated research objectives/research questions, research methodology adopted, research methods used, results and discussions. Any content other than English should have English translation. The verses need to be confirmed for correctness.

References: Follow APA’s manual format 6th edition or later for writing references in the text and list of references.

Authors’ Note: Include the names of all authors, their position in authorship, their organizational / departmental affiliations and the postal as well as email address of the corresponding author. Authors note should be on separate sheet to facilitate blind peer review. Nothing in the main article should indicate the identity of the authors.

مقالہ نگاران کے لیے ہدایات

مقالہ نگاران سےگزارش  ہے کہ مقالہ ارسال کرتے وقت درج ذیل نکات کوپیش نظر رکھا جائے ، بہ صورت دیگر ادارہ اشاعت سے قاصر ہوگا۔

مقالہ نگاروں کی آرا،تجزیوں اور استخراجی نتائج کے وہ خود ذمہ دار ہیں اور اس سلسلے  میں بی۔آر۔جے۔آئی۔ایس اور اس سے منسلک افراد اور ادارےہر قسم کی ذمہ داری سے بری  ہوں گے۔

بی۔آر۔جے۔آئی۔ایس اقبالیات کا جریدہ ہے جس کا  مقصد معاشرے میں فکر اقبال کی تطبیق اور نفاذ ہے اس لیے فکر اقبال کے تطبیقی پہلوؤں پر مشتمل مقالات کو ترجیح دی جائے۔ 

 مقالہ ۱۵  سے ۲۰ صفحات پر مشتمل ہو جس میں  کم از کم ۱۵ کتابوں سے  استفادہ کیا گیا ہو۔

تحقیق کے مقاصد عام افراد تک پہنچانے کے لیے مقالے کی زبان سادہ ہونی چاہیے۔

اردو کے علاوہ کسی اور زبان سے نقل کی گئی عبارت یا اقتباس ( شعر یا نثر دونوں صورتوں میں) کا اردو میں ترجمہ لکھنا ضروری ہے۔

 مقالات کی حروف کاری  ایم ایس ورڈ فارمیٹ میں ارسال کیجیے۔ایم ایس ورڈ میں  فونٹ جمیل نوری نستعلیق ہو ،متن کا فونٹ سائز  ۱۶ ,حواشی کا فونٹ سائز ۱۰ ۔

 مقالہ نگار اپنا  نام، مقالے کا عنوان ، ملخص اور۴سے ۷  کلیدی الفاظ اُردو اور انگریزی دونوں زبانوں میں تحریر کرے۔ علاوہ ازیں مقالے کا ملخص ڈیڑھ سو سے ڈھائی  سو (۱۵۰۔۲۵۰)  الفاظ پر مشتمل ہو۔ ملخص میں واضح طور پر تحقیقی مقاصد ، تحقیقی سوالات،   مواد کے جمع کرنے اور تجزیہ کا طریقۂ کار اور اہم نتائج و اکتشافات کا  ذکر ہونا لازمی ہے۔

مقالے کو موضوعاتی عنوانات میں تقسیم کریں۔ مقالے میں الگ عنوانات کے ذریعے  تحقیقی مقاصد و سوالات، مواد کے جمع کرنے اور تجزیہ کا طریقۂ کار، اہم نتائج و اکتشافات اور بحث کا ہونا لازمی ہے۔

مقالے کے اختتام پر حواشی/حوالہ جات اور مآخذ کی نشاندہی ضروری ہے۔

:مقالے میں حوالہ جات و حواشی کے اندراج کا طریقہ درج ذیل ہے

 مصنف کا نام:کتاب کا عنوان، قوسین میں شہر کا نام، ناشر،سنِ اشاعت اور آخر میں  صفحہ نمبر۔(الف)

مثال:   تحسین فراقی:نقدِ اقبال حیاتِ اقبال میں ،(لاہور :بزمِ اقبال،۱۹۹۲ء) ، ص۰ ۵

  اگر کسی کتاب سے دویا تین مرتبہ حوالہ آئے تو  کتاب کا عنوان ، محولہ بالا اور صفحہ نمبر لکھنا مناسب  ہوگا۔اگر اسی کتاب کا دوسرا حوالہ فورا آئے تو  ایضاً  لکھنا کافی ہوگا۔صفحہ نمبر الگ ہونے کی صورت میں ایضا ًکے بعد صفحہ نمبر بھی درج کیجیے۔

:مقالہ بھیجنے سے پہلےبراہِ کرم تصدیق کر لیجیے

  • مقالہ حروف کاری کی اغلاط سے مبراہو۔
  • اشعار ہمیشہ تحقیق کر کے اور مکمل صورت میں لکھیں۔
  • ارسال کردہ مقالہ سرقے سے پاک ہونا چاہیے کیوں کہ اشاعت سے پہلے ٹرنٹن سافٹ وئیر میں اس کی تصدیق و تنقیح کی جائے گی ۔ اگر مقالے میں پہلے سے مطبوعہ مواد سے مماثلت و  مشابہت  طے شدہ حد یعنی 19فی صد سے زیادہ  ہوئی تو مقالہ ناقابلِ اشاعت ہوگا۔ 
  • بی۔آر۔جے۔آئی۔ایس کو مقالہ ارسال کرنے کے بعد جب تک اس کے قابلِ اشاعت, مجوزہ تبدیلیوں یا ناقابلِ اشاعت کے بارے میں مجلسِ ادارت کی طرف سے اطلاع موصول نہ ہواُسے کسی دوسرےجریدے میں اشاعت کے لیے نہ بھیجا جائے۔
