Abstract:
The 19th Century brought shackles of slavery on the Muslims of subcontinent. Muslims lost their identity and were in the slumber of negligence. At that time, it was necessary, an intellectual should wake them up and give them personal and national identity by reminding them their glorious past. So Allama Iqbal breathed new life into the dead nation through his unique message in Persian and Urdu languages. This message not only built the personality, but on its basis a new nation-state came into existence. This article discusses the fundamental role of Allama Iqbal’s philosophy of selfhood (Khudi) and how it plays role in personality development.  adopted into modern requirements of present.
